It’s gettin chili

imageI have been dealing with emotional eating my entire life. Today I had a fantastic appointment with my coach and I am going to be working with another life coach to help me fight through this crap in my head.

I am starting with a list of things I know work:

  • Meal planning
  • Small goals
  • Positive non food related rewards
  • Accountability partner

These things are in place. Today I am making a big pot of IP friendly chili… Enough to have on hand through the weekend! I am baking muffins tonight to combat the need for sweets, and I have put together premade salads. Prep begun!

My first small goal is to do one week week completely focused on phase 1, and loose 2 pounds of fat in this week. Second small goal is to clean my sock drawer!!!! Silly, but it’s a great place to start!

Thinking about the positive non food related rewards…. Today, I am rewarding myself for putting this out there by painting my nails… This is a win win reward… My nails will look better, and for one hour I can’t use my hands while they dry so no eating or housework!!!!!

My accountability partner. I have several. I went and saw my IP coach today (also one of the best rewards I could give myself.) and my friend Stephanie… Who is a constant cheer leader and not afraid to give me that slap on the head when I need it!

Here is my chili recipe! It’s awesome!!!!!

Like Carol Shelby’s Chili
2 lb lean ground beef, crumbled browned and drained. Today I had pork loin chops and beef loin steak that I chopped up and browned.

1 can tomato sauce (8oz.)

1/4 c chili powder (4 tbls.)

2 garlic cloves finely chopped, 1 tsp. minced garlic or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1 1/4 tsp. Oregano, suggested Mexican

1/2 tsp. paprika

1 1/2 tsp. cumin, ground

1 1/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

1 green bell pepper (or) 1/2 green bell pepper and 1/2 red bell pepper (optional)

1 – 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes (optional)

Directions
Makes 10 1 – cup servings.

1. Brown and crumble ground meat and drain.

2. Add drained beef, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chili powder, garlic, onion, oregano, paprika, cumin and the salt. Stir to blend. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour. Stir occasionally.

3. Add cayenne pepper and bell pepper. Simmer, covered, 1 hour longer. Stir occasionally.

Just as a side note, we are super busy at night, so I brown the meat and dump all ingredients in the crock pot and let it simmer on low all day!
